Rieth-Riley Construction Co. got its permit for the Singleton Stone LLC quarry in Eagle Creek Township in south Lake County just like Walsh & Kelly Inc. will get its permit for the proposed sand mine in Calumet Township. We’re nothing. We’re just peons.
To the alleged Democrat who’s voting for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump because there’s nobody on the Democratic side worth a penny: Really? Do you ever read the position papers of these people? Donald Trump speaks in bigoted platitudes whereas Bernie Sanders and the rest of the Democratic field are talking about issues that affect working Americans. I know you’re not really a Democrat, but that’s OK. I’m kind of flattered that you would refer to yourself as one even though you’re a real Republican.
It was classic Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. The Chicago Bears will never win against another team unless head coach John Fox gets rid of Cutler. When are the coaches going to learn? Get rid of Cutler. He’s no good. Every coach the Bears get will keep losing if they keep Cutler.
I live in the 200 block of Pennsylvania Street in Hobart. I just wanted to say that I have the best newspaper lady. She delivers that paper on my step. She’s just great so I just wanted to let you know that.
My biggest problem with the Green Bay Packers winning over the Chicago Bears on Sept. 13 is that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was clean as a whistle. The key to stopping Aaron Rodgers and the Packers is pass rush, pass rush, quarterback pressure. There should be some grass strains on that white jersey, Bears. Go defense.
Congratulations to the prosecuting attorneys for the trial of Lake Station Mayor Keith Soderquist, who was found guilty of charges including wire fraud and filing false income tax returns. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Josh Kolar and Philip Benson did the right thing. Thank you. That was a great job.
On my way to work recently, there were some postal employees who had their trucks all out there. They were in the service station on 15th Avenue close to Interstate 65. They were cursing, ignorant and loud. I thought that was so disrespectful and unprofessional. They were in uniform.
On the Singleton Stone quarry proposed for Eagle Creek Township in south Lake County, I just hope that all the voters remember who was in favor of this at election time.
President Obama said he will take 10,000 of the migrants from Syria. Since our president is from Illinois, ask them first how many they want.
Everybody puts down and says, “I’m a Democrat,” “I’m a Republican” or “I’m an independent.” I’ve got one question: Are any people ever considering themselves as a human being or a person without having to say, “I’m a Democrat” or “I’m a Republican”? Why do you put those things on yourself?
I recently sat through two green lights. A funeral procession was coming and I wanted to show my respect even if I didn’t know them. Don’t wait until you’re ready to kick the bucket to show some respect. Do it when you’re young and someday maybe someone will do the same for you.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but we liberated Kuwait. We spend billions on protection for Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries. If that’s the case, then why can’t they take in these refugees?
