It is hard to tell if establishment Republican candidates are stubborn or just slow learners. They thought Trump’s apparent attack on McCain would be his doom, but his poll numbers went up. They thought his debate performance and personal attack on Megan Kelly was the final nail in his coffin, but his poll numbers again went up.
The reaction of old guard Republican candidates is providing the fuel that runs the Trump locomotive. A fire needs fuel and Republicans are pouring on the coal. They are giving him the attention and air time that keeps his campaign rolling.
Conservatives are not concerned with Republicans attacking each other. They want Republicans to attack the President, the Democratic Party, and Democratic candidates. They want Republican candidates to focus on the issues that are destroying our nation and provide detailed solutions.
Conservatives want fearless confidant candidates who are undaunted by the press, public opinion polls, other candidates and their own shadow. We want them to be articulate and unapologetic. A party that was handed the House and the Senate has failed to produce. It should be no surprise to candidates that the electorate does not believe the words coming out of the mouths of establishment Republican Party candidates.
If Republicans want to stop the fire that is raging in Donald Trump’s campaign then they must stop fanning the flames.
