Engineering night: Learn about careers in engineering and computer science and meet with representatives from area engineering school at 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at 19351 W. Washington St. Students can sign up to attend up to three presentations by various engineering colleges and universities. From 6-7 p.m., students can mix and mingle with professional engineers to learn about the various engineering professions such as civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, etc. At 7 p.m., keynote speaker Dr. Peter Nelson, dean of the College of Engineering at University of Illinois-Chicago, will present “Engineering and Artificial Intelligence in the 21st Century.” During the remainder of the evening (7:45-9:15 p.m.), students and their parents may visit classrooms to learn more about the college and university programs. Representatives from area schools will include CLC Engineering, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Bradley University, Michigan Technical University and others. Performance: Featuring a wacky take on famous fairy tales, “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales” is CLC Theatre department’s fall children’s show. The play was adapted by John Glore from the award-winning book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. Performances will be held in the Mainstage Theatre at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at 3 and 7 p.m. Oct. 3 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 4. A school performance will be at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 2. Tickets are $8 and $6 for school groups. In the play, which is especially suited for grades pre-kindergarten to 4, favorite fairytales are spun on their head. Poor Jack has got to save himself from the terrible Giant, but a host of familiar fairy tale characters, and one very annoying Stinky Cheese Man, keep messing up his plans. The director is Brian J.
