The following items were taken from Libertyville Police Department reports and press releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

BATTERY

Caesar Cardenas, 50, of the 2600 block of North Cherry Cove Lane, Round Lake Beach, was charged Sept. 17 with battery. According to police reports, a man was arguing with public safety officers at Advocate Condell Hospital, 801 S. Milwaukee Avenue, at around 2:20 a.m. Reports say Cardenas raised his fist to the officer in a threatening manner. He is scheduled in court Nov. 18.

Gabriela Vela, 44, of the 400 block of West Park Avenue, Libertyville, was charged Sept. 16 with domestic battery. According to police reports, Vela was being held in Lake County jail awaiting a bond hearing.

George L. Scott Jr., 53, of the 700 block of South Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville, was charged Sept. 14 with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery. According to police reports, Scott is being held at the Lake County jail on a $100,000 bond.

DUI

Aulston A. Franco, 22, of the 300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, Mundelein, was charged Sept. 20 with driving under the influence of drugs, aggravated DUI while licenses was revoked, driving while his license was revoked, obstruction of identification and obstructing justice. Another person in the car, Taylor Yvonne Upton, 21, of the 26200 block of North Lilac Drive, Mundelein, was also charged with driving under the influence of drugs, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing justice. According to police reports, officers saw a car swerving in and out of lanes near Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road, but the passengers appeared to have switched seats before officers first approached the car. Police say Franco gave a fake name and Upton corroborated the fake name. After later getting Franco’s real name, police said they learned he was wanted by Lake County on a forgery charge. They are both scheduled in court Oct. 16.

OBSTRUCTION

Deloco D.J. Bevils, 27, of the 3000 block of Gabriel Avenue, Zion, was charged Sept. 13 with driving while his license was suspended and obstruction of identification. According to police reports, Bevils was pulled over for speeding at 6 p.m. near Butterfield and Peterson roads, and during the traffic stop, tried to hide his identity. He was scheduled in court Sept. 30.

STOLEN VEHICLE

Gabriel E. Gonzalez, 18, of the 2900 block of Valley View Road, Gurnee, was charged Sept. 17 with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and driving while his license was revoked. According to police reports, officers saw a car going 91 miles per hour on westbound Peterson Road, which is zoned for 45 miles per hour. The driver, later identified as Gonzalez, then turned onto Harris Road and was clocked at 79 miles per hour, reports say. Officers said they eventually cornered Gonzalez at Village Greens Golf Course, 2501 Midlothian Road, where Gonzalez jumped out of the moving car and tried to run away. Police said that after they caught Gonzalez, he failed field sobriety tests and a records check revealed his license was suspended. Police say the car was also reported stolen. Police say Gonzalez is being held in the Lake County Jail pending further investigation.

THEFT

Jessica Nilsa Morales, 30, of the 42300 block of Park Lane, Antioch, was charged Sept. 18 with a felony count of theft. According to police reports, Morales was discharged from Advocate Condell Hospital, 801 S. Milwaukee Ave., but was found trying to leave with approximately 250 medical items valued at about $200.
