The following items were taken from Highland Park police reports and press releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
DUI
Mellody Klong, 64, of the 1800 block of Waterford Court, Highland Park, was charged Sept. 22 with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance after police observed that a stop sign had been struck at Park Avenue West and Spruce Avenue. Klong also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and improper lane usage. She is due in court Oct. 9.
David Trandel, 50, of the 500 block of Sheridan Road, Winnetka, was charged Sept. 25 with driving under the influence after police responded to a reported accident in the 600 block of Vine Avenue Trandel also was charged with resisting a police officer and failure to report an accident involving property damage. His court date is Nov. 6.
Nena Jarta, 33, of the 1700 block of Joanna Avenue, Zion, was charged Sept. 22 with driving under the influence after police responded to a driving complaint in the 1400 block of Green Bay Road. Jarta also was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to secure two children in safety belts and operating an uninsured vehicle. Jarta’s court date is Nov. 6.
Andrew Fisher, 26, of the 1500 block of North Levitt Street in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, was charged Sept. 23 with driving under the influence during a police stop in the 300 block of the Edens Expressway. Fisher also was charged with improper lane usage and no taillights. He is due in court Oct. 23.
WARRANT
Timothy Shanahan, 38, of the 4900 block of West Wells Street in Milwaukee, turned himself in to Highland Park police Sept. 23 on an outstanding warrant for disorderly conduct. His court date is Oct. 7.
RETAIL THEFT
Gloria Avila, 49, of the 100 block of South Central Avenue, Highwood, was charged Sept. 23 with retail theft after police responded to a report of a shoplifter at a business in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road. Avila is due in court Oct. 28.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
Alfredo Vidal-Roman, 48, of the 500 block of Glen Flora Avenue, Waukegan, was charged Sept. 24 with driving on a suspended license and speeding during a police stop in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road. His court date is Oct. 28.
Thaddus Williams, 27, of the 3600 block of 16th Street, Zion, was charged Sept. 21 with driving on a suspended license after police responded to an accident near Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road. Williams also was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He is due in court Oct. 14.
Anthony Schlade, 44, of the 4500 block of North Christiana Avenue in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood, was charged Sept. 24 with driving on a suspended license and driving the wrong way on a one-way street after being stopped by police near Glencoe Avenue and Lincoln Avenue West. His court date is Oct. 28.
Corieonte Jackson, 28, of the 1900 block of Lexington Avenue, Great Lakes, was charged Sept. 24 with driving on a suspended license and improper lane usage after being stopped by police near Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road. Jackson is due in court Oct. 14.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A wallet and medications were taken from an unlocked Chevrolet pick-up truck Sept. 19 or Sept. 20 while the vehicle was parked in a garage in the 900 block of Half Day Road. The garage may have been left open.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Eggs apparently were thrown at a Honda Accord while the vehicle was parked on the street in the 1500 block of Arbor Avenue between 8 p.m. Sept. 26 and 4:15 p.m. Sept. 27.
Police received a delayed report Sept. 21 that someone had damaged a screen on the west side of the Metra train in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue. The damage was believed to have occurred at the beginning of summer.
Graffiti was drawn with sidewalk chalk in the tunnel underneath the 2000 block of Sheridan Road, causing no permanent damage to the property. Police received the report Sept. 25.
