Longtime Bears fan prediction
I have been a Bears fan all my life and I’m just over 74 years old. My prediction for the Bears season is that they will not win another game. Mark my words.
Old-fashioned bulbs are better
When I install a CFL bulb I use a marker to write the month and year it was installed on the base. According to the packing it is designed to last up to 9 years, and during this time I would have had to replace several old-fashioned light bulbs. The CFL bulb I replaced was installed in August of 2014. I have never had an old-fashioned light bulb fail in 13 months, and some that have yet to be replaced by me have lasted over 20 years. And the old-fashioned bulbs do not contain mercury.
Need to change with the times
I’m tired of wingnuts, both left and right, especially the right. John Boehner is a very smart politician who sees through the ridiculous demands of the Tea Party, which stands in the way of proper governing. The extreme left is ridiculous, also, and needs to come back to Earth. Now we’re up for grabs with fools that want to shut down government on lies and deceit they believe is destroying the nation. It’s time to grow up and accept the fact the GOP has decried the ACA insurance, freedom for gays to marry, and grow up and accept the fact the country is changing. Times are changing and if the they don’t change with them, they become irrelevant. We lost valuable jobs big time in the ’90s with the loss of good paying jobs so the greedy corporations could get low paid workers, and freedoms from environmental pollution. Now the earners that made more than $20 an hour are making a lot less. Just look at the taxes we lost. This is what’s brought the economy down, and the middle class has suffered greatly. The greed of corporations we had, and have, in order to increase investors, and the CEOs’ higher astronomical paychecks is damaging. Those Nike sports shoes haven’t gotten any cheaper. No, we’re at the mercy of these businesses, and the American dream is quickly fading for younger workers. Get it together, think of the country, not shutting the government down, for nothing.
Need protection from pit bulls
With all the pit bull dogs in Waukegan, this is another reason to have a conceal carry license. You can not save yourself from an attack from this vicious animal. Yes, there are some that are tame and make good pets, but I would not trust them. I have only one life and there are too many pit bulls around for me.
Teachers prepare kids for the future
Do you see how each school district is getting sick and tired of the tremendous weight of the overhead of these administrations? Everybody should agree with the teachers because the administrations of these school districts are so top heavy. Who’s going to go to school, pay all that money for an education and not get paid for their work? They expect these teachers to work for peanuts, which is wrong because the teachers are the ones that are preparing our next generation of children for the future.
Anniversary of Cuban Missile Crisis
The anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis will be Oct. 22. In 1962, our section of the world hemisphere was facing annihilation. Be thankful that we had a president like John F. Kennedy and a guy with brains like Nikita Khrushchev for their diplomacy that prevented a catastrophe.
