East Dundee is once again bringing back the Cards for Cars program.
Through the initiative, people who make vehicle purchases from an East Dundee dealership during a specified time get gas certificates for use at participating village gas stations.
This year’s promotion will run from Friday, Nov. 26, to Jan. 30, 2016. Individuals who purchase a new vehicle during that timeframe will receive four $25 gift certificates, and individuals who purchase a used vehicle for more than $5,000 will receive two $25 gift certificates.
Village Administrator Bob Skurla said East Dundee has invested $20,000 annually into the program. He said that investment has resulted in about $75,000 in revenue from municipal tax, gas sales and car sales.
East Dundee receives 1 percent in sales tax from the car sales, as well as 3 percent on all gas purchases made with the incentive gas cards.
Funding for the Cards for Cars program comes from the extra sales tax collected from the Business Development District.
Participating car dealerships include Al Piemonte Chevrolet, 770 Dundee Ave.; Cucci Ford, 800 Dundee Ave.; JD Byrider, 750 Dundee Ave.; and Superior Car Credit Inc., 777 Dundee Ave.
Participating gas stations include Dundee Marathon, 305 E. Main St.; Shell, 1097 E. Main St.; and Mobil, 421 E. Main St.
