Do activists have day jobs?
In regards to the article on the front page referring to former state’s attorney Michael Waller being on Waukegan’s 911 board. Can somebody explain to me what Ralph Peterson, Clyde McLemore and Chris “Brotha” Blanks do for a living? Have these guys ever worked a day in their lives or do they just walk around stirring the pot?
Open hunting on coyotes
Along with the hunting of semi-tamed deer at the north unit of the Illinois Beach State Park, it should be allowable to arrow any coyote that presents itself. Coyote season is open all year round in Illinois and the state park is full of them. The coyote pelt tanned would make a great rug or a wall hanging in some hunting man’s cave.
Who funds free programs?
In response to “Giving is good.” Where’s the money coming from to fund these free programs? Is it from senior citizens on fixed incomes or middle-class families struggling to raise their children? Enough is enough.
Residents don’t want new pool
Why is the park district moving forward on the construction of the swimming pool in Waukegan? There was a vote and people don’t want this pool, nor do we need it.
Middle class always pays
In response to the comment “Giving is good.” Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton want to give everything away just like Bill Clinton did. But they don’t realize somebody has to pay for it and it’s always the middle class.
Education head has no knowledge
Does President Obama’s choice in having appointed Arne Duncan as the head of the federal Department of Education make any sense, particularly when Duncan was never even a teacher? The truth is Arne Duncan has never been an educator nor has he had any personal experience in conducting a classroom at all. What an oxymoron. Furthermore, his parents having been educators hardly counts. It’s preposterous to imagine that Obama would have appointed an individual with none of the proper teaching credentials to lead this high office. Duncan is now stepping down. Is it any wonder that American public education has become such a top down convoluted, miserable mess over the past seven years under Obama’s watch?
Can’t give when money runs out
In response to the comment, “Why is it a bad thing that Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton sound like socialists because they just want to give and give.” The answer is simple. Eventually you run out of other people’s money.
We’re all a bit socialist
Speaking of socialism and socialists, aren’t we all a little bit of that? Public schools, Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security? Even if you paid into those programs, you probably haven’t paid as much as you’re collecting. And those outrageous pensions of government workers for so little investment? What about that?
Liable gun owners
In regard to the “Laws and logic” comment that criminals won’t obey gun laws. One of the latest shooters had several stolen guns. There should be a law making legal gun owners partially liable if their gun was used in a crime if it was stolen. Isn’t that logical? Chicago has had that law for years regarding stolen cars. If you’d left your engine running and it was stolen, you are liable.
Society is the issue
Stricter gun control is not the answer to the problem. Society is the issue. We (especially the media) glorify shootings. We would be better to completely ignore them and they will eventually go away. We should start legislation to ban the name of the offender ever being made public. We must blame ourselves, because video games have taught and continue to teach the younger generation how to torture and kill without any consequences at all.
