Here is a look at what some Southlanders have achieved in college, according to a release from Prairie State College in Chicago Heights:
During a recent tournament hosted by Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, the PSC speech team placed third in the community college division, and several individuals earned honors.
Patrick Sheard, of Dolton, was named tournament champion in persuasive speaking and came in third place in prose.
Kelly Crescenzo, of Steger, was named tournament champion for informative speaking.
Daniel Blewitt, of Crete, finished in third place for intersquad improvisational scene.
Shania Johnson, of Park Forest, earned a fifth-place finish in persuasive speaking.
Also competing were Rachel Brooks, of Matteson; Caleb D’Amico, of Country Club Hills; and Anfernee Gray, of Sauk Village.
The team was coached by PSC professors Ed Schwarz and Joshua Green.
“Overall, our first-timers said they learned a lot and are excited to continue competing throughout the year,” Green said.
