Antioch

Breakfast: Breakfast with Santa will be Saturday and Dec. 12 at Antioch Golf Club, 40150 N. Route 59. Enjoy breakfast and meet with Santa at three seatings each day at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Tickets are $12 in advance, and $15 at the door, and include breakfast, meet-and-greet with Santa, and tickets to the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s Frozen Village. Grayslake

Cookie walk: The annual cookie walk will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Protestant Church of Grayslake, 54 S. Whitney St. Stroll among tables to select from many varieties of homemade cookies and other treats for sale by the pound. The event is being sponsored by the UPC Women’s Christian Fellowship. Baker’s Square pie cards will be on sale for $15 each. The cards make great gifts or can be used to supplement your holiday meals. For more information, call 847-223-8131

Coffee stop: State Rep. Sam Yingling, D- Grayslake, invites area resident to join him at a local coffee shop to discuss thoughts on state and local issues over warm drinks at 10 a.m. Saturday at Something’s Brewing, 1126 E Washington St. This year, Yingling has voted repeatedly to freeze property taxes, backed legislative efforts to support veterans and worked hard to create employment opportunities for the residents in his district. Wauconda

Mobile office: State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, will bring the services of his full-time constituent office for another round of satellite office hours from 10 a.m. to noon Friday to Wauconda Village Hall, 101 N. Main St. This is a part of his efforts to provide accommodations for seniors and constituents who may otherwise be limited in mobility and unable to make it to his regular office in downtown Grayslake. Waukegan

Walk and sale: St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold its cookie walk and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 1520 N. McAree Road. Make your own cookie assortment by picking individual homemade cookies and sweets. Sold by the pound. There will be breads and other goodies, and a chance to purchase some unique crafts. Committee meeting: State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, will host an Education Citizens’ Advisory Committee meeting to discuss efforts to improve educational opportunities at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Vernon Area Public Library, 300 Olde Half Day Road. During this meeting, local parents, teachers, administrators and school board members will have the opportunity to come together for an open discussion on the state of education in the community, brainstorm ideas for future legislation, identify any educational concerns and assess current education bills. Food drive: Sunset Foods, 1812 Green Bay Road, is ready to make the holidays a little more festive for residents who are experiencing difficult times by helping to stock the Moraine Township Food Pantry. Food Pantry volunteers will be at the store Friday through Monday asking shoppers to add $10, $25 or $50 to their bill as a contribution to the Food Pantry. The Pantry at 777 Central Ave. is open to income-qualified Moraine Township residents from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and other times by appointment.
