Happy Birthday

Dec. 3: Matt Goletz (Bad birdie forgot to remind me.)

Dec. 9: Jason Krampen (bad birdie)

Happy Anniversary

Dec. 2: Greg and Pam DeLor (bad birdie)

A few thoughts

Pamela Lewis Dolan and her husband, Brian, are expecting a little girl in May. She and Brian are so excited. Pam used to work for the Post-Tribune and we covered Crown Point together. She was fun to work with and is a great lady to have as an aunt. That is going to be one lucky baby to have these two as parents.

Three new or renewed restaurants are coming into Crown Point.

Pita Pit wants to tear down the Firestone store on North Main Street across from McDonald’s and build a fast-food restaurant with grilled meats, fresh veggies and zesty sauces all rolled inside a pita.

The owner of Pop’s Italian Beef & Sausage has purchased and torn down the old Ponderosa (across from the American Legion) and should be coming into the city with plans to build a new home for Pop’s.

Bronko’s Restaurant & Lounge is coming back to Crown Point. Tim Heidbreder is going to build a restaurant along Indiana Avenue just north of the new townhouses that are going in on the corner of Indiana and North streets. Dedicated parking for the restaurant will make for happy neighbors.

Calendar

Dec. 13: Hot Cocoa Day

Dec. 20: Santa’s Bowling Party at Super Bowl, 218 S. East St., Crown Point. Bowl and visit with Santa and his elves. 10:15 a.m., noon, 1:45 and 3:30 p.m. For more information, call Super Bowl, 219-661-9015.

Dec. 25: Christmas. When is midnight Mass? Think again. In many churches, it could be at 7 or 10 or 10:30 p.m. Dec. 24, not midnight. Some are still at midnight. You had better check with your sometimes-attended parish to find out, or you will be the one out in the cold and have to get up and go to Mass on Christmas Day.
