I read Jerry Davich’s column recently on the dangers of concussions with the NFL players. I agree with it 100 percent.

If Gov. Mike Pence could find non-union people to fix the Cline Avenue bridge in East Chicago, he would. He doesn’t want to see people standing around for $70 an hour. That’s why he’s not fixing it. Come on. Wake up and smell the coffee.

If you want to have a happy new year and stop the destruction of the middle class and the country, stop voting Republican.

I can’t believe all these people who want quiet. They buy a house by the airport and they want the planes to be quiet. They buy a house by the railroad tracks and they want the trains to be quiet. Then they buy a house by a park where all the kids play soccer, softball and whatever. They expect the park to be quiet. Come on, people. What are you thinking?

It is not a sport or an athletic event, for that matter, unless there’s a chance of being carried off the playing field on a stretcher.

Gee, I love the gasoline prices. Thank you, oil companies or whoever for doing that. It’s nice to save a few bucks. But try to go grocery shopping. The meat’s so expensive you can’t afford to buy any. Well, maybe we could get them to start lowering the prices.

The most destructive, the most debilitating, the most powerful and the most addicting drug in the world is money. Look at all the ills and the problems of the world. Almost all of them have to do with the insatiable desire to gain more wealth.

Someone commented about the treacherous road down Clay Street from Central Avenue in Lake Station to 15th Avenue in Gary. You should have driven down that road before they kind of filled in the potholes. You would have had another opinion on that. It is horrible.

The state of Indiana is just fine. The current GOP leaders are the problems. You don’t move out of the state because of temporary leadership, you vote them out of office.

Regardless of his heroics in the final two football games, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler only gets it done in the first and last quarter while stumbling in the middle two quarters. What’s up with that pattern? I say they get rid of him even if they have to take a hit on the final year of the contract.

Isn’t it funny how Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson can have two jobs, including being special administrator to the Gary Sanitary District, and collect two salaries.

Look around you at the creation and then deny there is a God.

Texas has to remind us almost on a daily basis just how out of touch with reality it really is. A new law allows firearms in psychiatric hospitals. How long before this becomes a tragic incident?
