A 19-year-old Aurora man faces sentencing next month after pleading guilty to attempted murder and attempted armed robbery charges connected to a November 2014 shooting.
During a recent hearing, Antonio Isais admitted to shooting a then-20-year-old man with a shotgun and trying to steal marijuana from him during a ruse drug deal that erupted in gunfire on Nov. 24, 2014, on Coral Avenue.
According to authorities, Isais arranged to make a marijuana purchase from Jordy Arreola with the intention of robbing Arreola when the pair met. Similarly, Arreola enlisted the help of two friends with plans to rob Isais, who also brought along back up with him, police said. At least one person associated with each side was armed at the time and a shootout resulted. Isais was shot twice in the back. The 20-year-old man was also wounded by a bullet to the shoulder. Isais’ brother, Patrick Maloney, 21, of Aurora, was later charged with attempted murder and attempted armed robbery on allegations he drove a vehicle tied to the shooting, court documents show. Arreola is charged with attempted murder.
Isais is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 10. He was granted a medical furlough for Feb. 2 to undergo a medical procedure related to his shooting injuries, records state.
Arreola returns to court next week, while Maloney has a scheduled Feb. 18 hearing. All three men remain held in Kane County Jail.
