The Humane Society of Hobart doesn’t want to expand. They want to stay in the 1930s and 1940s in that little building. How can you say you are a shelter when the place looks like a dump? You can’t find it. There are no parking spaces. You take in the animals and say you love them. What about contacting PetSmart Charities? They do renovations of shelters and help with adoptions.

Does it really matter who becomes our next president? It’ll be the same old song and dance. The rich get richer and oh, never mind, you’ve heard it all before.

Why is it so hard to live the American dream?

It’s incredibly amazing how the lyrics of the song “Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World Is Today)” by the Temptations still applies to the world now. They first recorded that song back in the 1960s. That’s incredible.

We had relatives stay with us from Thanksgiving through Christmas from the East Coast. They actually worried what they were going to do in the flyover states, as they call it. We started out in Chesterton, went to the parade and had the horse and carriage ride. We did the trolleys in Crown Point and looked at Christmas lights. We rode the train to Chicago and went to Macy’s and the museum there. We came back to Chesterton and had the Swedish Christmas display. In Chesterton we can ride our golf carts so they were pleased to ride around town. After a month they decided Northwest Indiana is a nice place to live. Maybe they won’t call us flyover anymore.

People backing President Obama and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton have to remember that seven years ago when President Obama first became president, he had a majority in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate. The Democrats ran the House and Senate. Now, Republicans are running it. If the Senate and the House were run by Democrats seven years ago and they liked his policies, why were Republicans and others elected? Now, he has a Senate and a House totally against him because of his policies and they are Republicans. But remember, folks, that seven years ago Democrats ran the House and Democrats ran the Senate so even his own political party did not like the policies he was pushing.

Regardless of what you believe in, facts are facts. A.D. translates to “anno Domini,” the year of the Lord. Since the days of our weeks were named for ancient gods somewhere around 1 B.C., it stands to reason that they are not based on Christianity and, therefore, not a valid argument as to whether or not there is a God.

Probably at least 15 years ago my husband was working in the steel industry and he was selling roller bearings. He was complaining about the dumping of steel from China, and nothing was done about it. Well, now, 15 years later, we’re going to put a high tariff on them, but we don’t get much steel from them anymore. It’s from other countries and they’re paying minimum tariffs. So our country, again, is not taking care of the American worker. I love talking to U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky when he comes to town. He really listens and I wanted to express my disappointment.

There was a song that we would sing in church. It goes something like this: “Who made the flowers to bloom in the spring? Who made the song for the robins to sing, and who hung the moon and the stars in the sky? Somebody bigger than you or I.” Guess who that was being referred to in the song “Somebody Bigger Than You and I”? Wait. Wait a minute. It was God. So yes, there is a God.

There’s a Porter County resident who is speaking to groups as a former drug user. She’s actually a convicted drug dealer. She claims she has never dealt but if you do research and Google the name, you will find out she has testified against everyone she’s sold to and has even testified against the people she was buying from in Illinois and Chicago. Don’t trust these people. That’s what got them into that situation in the first place. Do your own research. Find out about these people and their lies.

This atheist is walking through the woods admiring the ripple of the stream and the birds singing in the trees. Out comes a grizzly bear running straight for him. He ran as fast as he could. The grizzly bear caught him, raised his paw and was ready to kill him. The atheist screamed, “Oh my God.” Everything went still. God said, “You mean to tell me you denied me all your life and now you want me to help you?” The atheist said, “No, but, God, could you make the bear Christian?” Everything went back the way it was. The bear released the atheist, put his paws together and said, “Thank you, God, for this food I’m about to eat.”

The reason God doesn’t stop people from doing evil is called free will. He blessed the human beings who are created in his image with free will. If we didn’t have free will you’d be commenting in Quickly and complaining about that, too. Read your Bible.
