Crown Point native Jordan Finlon, 23, was found dead on the side of the road — the victim of an apparent homicide — on Tuesday afternoon near Bradenton, Fla.

Police had not released the cause of Finlon’s death Wednesday afternoon. Manatee County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Dave Bristow said an autopsy was conducted Wednesday, though police will not release the results at this time.

Finlon’s body was discovered about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by two motorists on a road that cuts through the Terra Ceia Preserve State Park. Bristow said the wooded area is about 20 minutes from Bradenton, where Finlon lived.

Police have linked Finlon’s death with another homicide that occurred in Bradenton just prior to when Finlon was found. Karl John Tuxford, 38, was found shot to death inside a gray Jeep around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday. Bristow said Finlon and Tuxford were acquaintances.

Bristow said no suspects have been arrested, but detectives are following several leads. Bristow said anyone with information on the homicides should call 941-747-3011, Ext. 2519 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.

Finlon was a 2011 graduate of Lake Central High School, according to her Facebook page, and several friends and family members have shared tributes to Finlon on social media.
