Nearly $47,000 worth of computers and equipment has disappeared from the Williams Annex, a Gary middle school located at 920 E. 19th Ave.

School employee Dwight Pointer reported the equipment missing after a Jan. 7 inventory. A police report was released Wednesday.

However, school spokeswoman Charmella Greer said the thefts apparently occurred during the previous school year. She said the matter is still under investigation and wasn’t sure why the report was filed by Pointer, an official at the school.

Among the missing items are 10 PolyVision whiteboards valued at $3,132 each; 21 Dell laptop computers valued at $547 each and six HP desktop computers valued at $667 each.

Pointer said the items were removed without permission of the school district.

No arrests have been made.

Williams Annex was formerly known as Dunbar-Pulaski Middle School. The school district changed its name after the State Board of Education voted to close Dunbar-Pulaski last year for low student achievement.
