Why should the Illinois government workers in the AFSCME union get a contract guaranteeing them general wage increases and a 3.8 percent annual salary step increase? Social Security recipients have not received even cost of living raises for the last two years. Getting annual salary increases is not a guaranteed right for the American worker.
