Kane County Sheriff’s deputies said a Hampshire teen is home safe.
The 16-year-old was reported missing Monday by her family. She wrote a note saying she left the house and would not be back until the following morning, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office used Facebook to obtain information about her whereabouts. She contacted authorities Thursday night and said she was ready to go home, according to reports. Deputies picked her up at a restaurant on Randall Road in South Elgin, reports stated.
The sheriff’s office posted a notice about the missing teen on its Facebook page Thursday. The post had been shared more than 2,300 times within four hours.
