Read Kristen McQueary’s column from Friday in the Chicago Tribune and Daily Southtown to become enlightened. One constant in the quarter-century demise of the State of Illinois has been Michael Madigan, regardless of who was the governor. His concern is more about control, campaign funding and re-election than doing his job for all people in Illinois, middle-class included, and not just what Michael Madigan wants. This he has done even at the expense of his own daughter running for governor. If Madigan was as concerned about the middle-class, and the overall financial situation of the State of Illinois, as he alludes to, he would not continue to suppress legislation that would have helped the middle-class and the state over the last quarter-century, but may not have helped Michael Madigan as he would liked.

I would like to say thanks to the Plush Horse ice cream shop in Palos Park. My wife was tossing out old papers and happened to come across two $20 gift certificates from the Plush Horse that had a 2006 expiration date on them. She said if I send the certificates back, maybe they will issue me new ones. I said, “Yeah, right.” A week later she got a letter from co-owner Sheri Chiappetti. Inside were two $20 gift cards replacing the ones that expired in 2006. I nearly fell over. Ten years later and the famous Plush Horse replaced the certificates with no questions asked. I guess great ice cream and awesome owners are not that hard to find.

I read something pretty funny from an Oak Forest commenter about the empty promises of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. That really intrigues me since in 2008, when the Republicans left the office of president, we were in a complete recession, the banks had failed and we were at an all-time high of people out of work. Boy, that’s what I want to go back to. Thanks for the little zinger.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump keeps telling people that he’s worth about $10 billion. Bloomberg News, however, estimates his real worth at about $2.9 billion. In 1974, investor Warren Buffett and Donald Trump were each worth about $40 million. To show you what a great businessman Buffett is, he was able to take that number to around $67 billion where Donald was only able to move the needle to about $2.9 billion.

I’m a concerned citizen. Here’s just a little information for everybody. Beware of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. He wants to do away with Medicare and Social Security. Watch this man. He’s a Socialist. He just had many, many bad ideas.
I have a question for Gov. Bruce Rauner. Why didn’t you help Chicago Public Schools before? If you can help the schools, help them now. Help them get the contract. No, you want to try to de-power the union, which has been your agenda all along. You’re a typical Republican, rich businessman. You’re despicable. I believe you’re the worst governor in history.

Law enforcement in the United States of America is a disgrace. Eighty-eight people are killed by guns every day in the United States of America. Our laws are too lenient, and we allow gangs to run rampant. We let criminals off on appeals and probation, and then give them shorter sentences and early releases because of overcrowding. We need more prisons. Forget building museums, casinos and racetracks. Get real. All of our major cities are like war grounds. Stop the madness.
