Jay Stone is a financial executive; specifically, he buys distressed consumer debt for a living. Stone and his family moved to Glencoe in 2001 from Chicago, and on one particularly cold recent day, he answered questions from inside a local coffee shop.
Q: Why did you move to Glencoe in the first place?
A: For a warm, stable community for our young daughter. We thought the public schools here were fabulous, so that is why we moved.
Q: How did you become a financial executive?
A: I had a degree in history and political science, and there were no jobs in those fields.
Q: On a day like today, would you be tempted to move to a warm weather climate, and if so, where?
A: Yes, I would like to move to Maui. My family and I love Hawaii and I would open up a Jay Stone fish taco shop. Stone’s Fish Tacos.
Q: What is your favorite kind of fish and why?
A: Salmon, because they are wild like me.
Q: How many Hawaiian shirts do you own?
A: I have 12. Because when you have a big belly, they make you look really sexy.
Q: If there is one thing you could change about Glencoe, what would it be?
A: I think people should be happier to be alive and enjoy what they have.
