An unavailable witness prompted the postponement of a Chicago man’s trial scheduled for this week on an Aurora sex assault charge from 2012, according to court records.

Corderro Pollard, 25, is accused of having sex with a Joliet woman when she was too intoxicated to consent after a night of drinking that concluded at a home in Aurora three-and-a-half years ago. Pollard and two other men were initially charged, however he remains the only one still facing sex assault allegations. He has pleaded not guilty and remains free on bond.

Kane County Judge John Barsanti agreed to delay Pollard’s trial at the request of prosecutors who said an Aurora police detective key to the case was unavailable to testify this week. Pollard’s attorney objected, but Barsanti opted to grant the postponement. No new trial date has been set, but a June hearing was scheduled for pre-trial motions.

Prosecutors have noted in court filings the intent to introduce the woman’s statements to a nurse and doctor who treated her after the reported August 2012 incident.

Co-defendant Eric Stallworth pleaded guilty to unlawful restraint in an agreement with prosecutors in August and was sentenced to periodic imprisonment and probation. The third man, Shammrie Brown, was initially charged with sex assault for failing to intervene on the woman’s behalf, but prosecutors later dropped that case and instead charged him with misdemeanor battery. Brown is listed as a potential witness for prosecutors, court records show. His case remains pending with a May court date planned.
