Police say a teenager did not notice when his wallet fell out of his pocket in front of a Buffalo Grove store, but the woman who had just asked him for money apparently did.

Three teens from Wisconsin stopped on March 29 at Walgreen’s, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, and as they walked out a woman asked them if they could give her “a few bucks for gas money,” according to the police report. They declined and walked back to the car they arrived in.

One of the passengers sat down, then changed his mind, got out of the car and switched to a different seat, police said. The report indicates that he did not notice that his wallet fell out of his pocket during this move.

But he now suspects that the woman noticed. Whoever picked his wallet up found $860 inside, mostly in $20 bills, police said.

Shortly after getting back into the car and driving away, the young man observed that he no longer had his wallet, police said.

“They arrived back at the parking lot and tried to locate the lost wallet, looking all around including garbage cans,” the report reads.

But the wallet, and the woman, were both gone. The teens filed a lost-property report with the Buffalo Grove police that night.
