Elgin police are investigating a report of shots fired reported at 11:53 a.m. on the 200 block of Jewett Street.
The location is near St. Laurence Catholic School, according to reports, and the school was temporarily placed on lockdown while officers investigated.
Elgin Police officials said there were no reported injuries or reports of anything being damaged in the incident, adding officers are canvassing in the neighborhood.
