Lake County Sheriff’s deputies blocked off the entrance to the Sunset Motel on Route 176 and Route 41 near Lake Bluff at 9:30 a.m. Friday after a caller told police a 57-year-old man at the hotel said he was going to harm himself, according to Det. Christopher Covelli.
Once deputies made contact with the individual, he said he had a gun, so Covelli said extra precautions such as ballistic shields were used to enter the room. There was no gun, and the man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. There were no charges filed, Covelli said.
The motel is located at 511 Rockland Road in unincorporated Lake Bluff.
