An 18-year-old woman was able to fight off a man who attempted to pull her our of her vehicle in South Elgin, police said.

According to the woman, she was driving south on Randall Road a little after midnight Thursday when she had a flat tire. A man approached her and said he’d help change the tire, according to the South Elgin police report.

She pulled into a parking lot in the 400 block of Randall, and the man did assist her in changing the tire. He then attempted to pull her out of her vehicle, she told police. The woman was able to fight off the man, and he drove off south on Randall, possibly in a gray or green Saturn, police said.
