Multiple Commonwealth Edison workers were busy Wednesday morning replacing a downed utility pole caused by a one-vehicle truck collision earlier that morning at Howard Street and Kostner Avenue, officials said.
Police at the scene said no one was injured in the crash. The downed power lines resulted in a few blocks on Howard being closed off for several hours and power outages for a small number of people who live near the area, officials said.
Late Wednesday morning, Commonwealth Edison officials said they were still assessing damage and would later have information about how many households were impacted and when power would be restored.
A Commonwealth Edison employee at the scene said a garbage truck accidentally hit the pole. Skokie Police said the accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
