Cobra’s Curse, the new spin coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa, won’t open until this summer, but the theme park has a first-person ride video showing guests what to expect.

Located in the park’s Egypt section, the coaster is broken into three main parts — the initial 90-degree vertical lift that puts you face-to-fang with an 80-foot golden snake statue, a section where riders travel in reverse and a free-for-all finale where riders spin randomly based on weight distribution.

The ride’s air-conditioned queue line is a 400-cubic-foot multi-level snake exhibit that includes Jameson’s mambas, Angolan pythons and rhinoceros and gaboon vipers.

The back story of the ride goes back 2,000 years to a snake king who became too powerful, so villagers demolished his temple, which was uncovered during a recent archaeological dig.

Cobra’s Curse is expected to open in June, but Busch Gardens hasn’t released an official opening date.
