I was watching TV and they were saying President Barack Obama’s the comedian-in-chief. Yeah, he’s a big joke. Where were all the Obama protesters when he ran for election? He didn’t do anything for this country but destroy it.

I’m wondering about all these automobile recalls of 200,000 here and 300,000 there. Are those parts being made in Asia, or what country are they in? I don’t believe they’re being made in the United States. I know the air bags are being made in Japan.

I understand the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is looking for a new mascot since Chief Illiniwek offended some people. They’re looking for something else. Well, I have a suggestion. How about an imitator who imitates House Speaker Michael Madigan? Better still, how about just Michael Madigan himself?

John, Bridgeport

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton keeps saying she’d be a great president. She and President Barack Obama haven’t done much while in office. Have they done anything in the depressed areas or for veterans? How about the deal in Benghazi, Libya, or the Rose Law Firm she was involved with? People wound up dead or missing during the term of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and Hillary’s reign. That’s probably why former White House intern Monica Lewinsky came forward about her sexual relationship with Bill. She was afraid she’d be next. The only logical choice we have is Republican candidate Donald Trump. We need a businessperson to bring us back. Otherwise, we’ll turn into a huge Detroit.

More about a proposed bill so that immigrants who are here illegally can go to school for free: If you want to live in the melting pot of the United States, then you do it the legal way. You don’t sneak in and then cry that you’re being discriminated against and that you want immunity and you want this and that. That is not right. If you wanted to give these kids free education, then you give it all the way across the board. You don’t pick and choose, and discriminate against one or the other race. You give everybody equal opportunity to get an education free on taxpayer money. Also, shame on you for putting the burden on taxpayers.

More about Republican representatives saying we’re spending more money than we have: Republicans are not paying the 35 percent corporate tax rate they’re crying about. When Republicans start being honest and start doing their job, maybe the country will come back to where it belongs. The last thing in the world we need is somebody like Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to be running this country or any Republican. We’ve got to get these guys out of the U.S. House and Senate and get some control back in there with some reasonable people. Every time I see somebody from Oak Forest preaching for the Republicans, I wonder where this person comes from because I know he is not a millionaire.

Here we go again. You Democrats cannot see behind your nose. Blame the Republicans. Blame Gov. Bruce Rauner. Who else but them would get the blame? That’s for sure. No Democrats will get the blame. You have had power for nearly eight years. Nothing’s changed. Keep blaming Republicans because nothing gets done, and ask House Speaker Mike Madigan. He has all the answers. Blame all the Republicans. He and all you dishonest Democratic liberals may get away with all this now, but the time is coming when the truth will prevail.

I was wondering if former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s sexual abuse victims who received all this money are paying income tax because they could possibly get a jail cell right next to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is serving time for federal corruption.

Tom, Burbank

I have lived in Burbank for over 30 years, and I have never witnessed such neighborhood decay as I have seen develop within the last few years. I guess the blight committee has disbanded because absolutely nothing is being done to control the actions of lazy homeowners who do nothing to maintain their homes in a halfway decent manner. And the school district should be ashamed at the way the lawns and landscapes are maintained at our schools. Just drive past McCord School after the lawn has been cut to view the carnage that is left behind by the landscapers. Burbank has turned into a blighted dump. And the mayor and our alderman don’t seem to care at all.

Janet, Burbank

We agree with Ted Slowick’s recent column about towns wasting taxpayer money on landscaping. Tinley Park recently made 171st and 80th Avenue dangerous by planting bushes at the top of a hill blocking drivers’ view of westbound traffic. The mentality of villages spending money “just because” has to stop.
