Aurora police responded to several calls of shots fired early Saturday morning near Fifth Street and Maple Avenue, and eventually found blank casings in that area on the East Side.

Initially, officers who responded to the scene at about 2:05 a.m. Saturday couldn’t find any evidence of a shooting, according to information provided by police spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

Later, at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, officers went back to the area to check it again. During the recheck, they found multiple casings on Maple Avenue west of Fifth Street that looked like blank rounds, probably shot from a starter pistol or similar gun, according to police.

Police then canvassed the neighborhood, but did not get any suspect information. No damages or injuries were reported.

Aurora police ask anyone with information about the incident to call police investigations at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. People can also submit tips through the My Police Department app available through iTunes, the Android Market and Amazon App Store.
