Outlook: Host Valparaiso is favored to become the fifth different regional winner in five seasons following conference and sectional titles. One of the meet’s best competitions will come in the shot put and discus, where Hobart’s Nick Ray and Hanover’s Trenton Fanta are two of the best in the state. Michigan City boasts the state’s top-ranked high jumper in Daniel Armstrong. The Wolves also have one of the state’s best hurdlers in Makiyah Smallwood, although he’ll again be challenged by Portage’s Daveon Finley.
Advancement: Top three finishers in all events plus any competitors meeting the state qualifying standards advance to the state finals on Saturday, June 4.
