DePaul officials are investigating reports that a noose was found on its North Side campus Thursday afternoon, according to a statement sent to students and faculty.

“We received multiple reports that a noose — a horrific symbol of racist intimidation — was found on the Lincoln Park campus,” the statement read. “Those found to be responsible will be held accountable.”

A spokeswoman for the university declined to elaborate on the statement.

No details were immediately available about where or how the noose was found.
