Whether you’re looking for time with your family, seclusion with your sweetie or fun with your friends, Wisconsin has a resort for that. Escape to sit in the lap of luxury with plush accommodations, championship golf courses, sumptuous spas and gourmet meals at these 10 Wisconsin destinations.

The American Club & Kohler Waters Spa — Kohler

This historic landmark is a Forbes Five-Star resort and spa with four championship golf courses and nine restaurants.

Several types of rooms and suites are available, all with lavish Kohler showers and baths. Not surprisingly, Kohler’s influence also is apparent in the spa’s hydrotherapy and bathing treatments.

The Osthoff Resort & Aspira Spa — Elkhart Lake

Get a taste of indulgent lake life at this sprawling AAA Four-Diamond resort along the shores of Elkhart Lake. In addition to two restaurants, The Osthoff offers the L’ecole de la Maison Cooking School for guests.

If you want a spa day, book an Aspira SpaSuite, complete with a shower, whirlpool bath and room for multiple massage beds.

On-site recreational options include a private beach and watercraft rentals, biking, tennis, volleyball and basketball. Don’t miss the beachfront bonfires offered three times a week in the summer.

Blue Harbor Resort & Reflections Spa — Sheboygan

If the kids are coming along, Blue Harbor is a perfect pick for its themed suites (including a “Kidaquarium”), Kids Club with structured fun activities like sandcastle-building contests, make-your-own sundaes and a 54,000-square foot indoor water park.

With six on-site restaurants, there is something for everyone in the family. Plus, parents can escape with a treatment or package at the full-service Reflections Spa.

Heidel House Resort & Evensong Spa — Green Lake

Heidel House’s Evensong Spa was named the best in the Midwest by Spas of America, and you’ll quickly see why once you book a massage or nail treatment.

Another can’t-miss experience is a cruise aboard the resort’s 60-foot Escapade Yacht, also available for private tours. Treat yourself at one of the three on-site restaurants or the luscious Pump House ice cream parlor.

Canoe Bay – Chetek

A perfect couples’ escape, the adults-only, 300-acre Canoe Bay offers several cottages along a secluded lake – king beds, fireplaces, two-person whirlpool tubs and private decks are standard. Two of the cottages offer private spa rooms with Finnish saunas and steam showers.

Complimentary breakfast is delivered every morning and features many ingredients from the on-site garden. Multicourse dinners are served in a glass-walled, lakeside dining room, though you can also opt to dine in the wine cellar, at the chef’s table in the kitchen or in the privacy of your cottage.

The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa – Fontana-on-Geneva Lake

The only full-service resort on Geneva Lake, The Abbey offers more than 300 lodging options in rooms, suites and villas. Two restaurants, a coffee shop, bar and even a private dining room are available on-site.

Rent a boat, go parasailing or take water-skiing lessons at the resort’s protected marina, Abbey Harbor. The Abbey also offers individual or group child care services.

Lake Lawn Resort & Calladora Spa – Delavan

Covering 250 acres along Delavan Lake, this resort has been a favorite among travelers since 1879 when the site was the winter grounds for a circus. Today, you’ll find a championship-level golf course, three restaurants and private marina slips.

Calladora Spa offers many standard treatments and salon services, but we recommend the eucalyptus steam room.

Grand Geneva Resort & WELL Spa + Salon – Lake Geneva

Another AAA Four-Diamond resort, the Grand Geneva boasts 1,300 scenic acres with two golf courses, three restaurants and a café for coffee and ice cream. You can also dine in your room, but make sure you visit the Geneva ChopHouse for the extravagant Champagne Sunday Brunch.

In addition to the WELL Spa + Salon indoor and outdoor swimming pools, the Grand Geneva offers a fitness center with classes, tennis and basketball courts, a 35-foot climbing wall, sauna and steam rooms.

Kids will love the on-site waterpark, junior spa services and horseback riding stables. Small dogs are welcome, too, treated as well as human guests during their stay.

Sundara Inn & Spa – Wisconsin Dells

Although Wisconsin Dells is known as the water park capital of the world, it’s also home to Sundara Inn & Spa, a peaceful retreat tucked away in a 26-acre pine forest for ultimate seclusion.

Guests can come for the day or stay overnight in one of 26 spa-inspired suites with feather beds, fireplaces and designer baths. No-kids and electronics-free common areas add to the tranquility.

All guests have access to the Purifying Bath Ritual where spa-goers exfoliate, then sit in the steam room, cool-down rainfall shower, oil-infused hot pool and cool plunge pool and relax in the Quiet Room afterward.

Take advantage of an adjoining 18-hole golf course and chef-prepared meals using farm-fresh ingredients. Activities to help you recharge include swimming, hiking, kayaking, biking and yoga.

The Four Seasons Island Resort — Pembine

Dreaming of an island getaway without a long, oceanic flight? Consider the understated Four Seasons Island Resort on Miscauno Island, surrounded by quiet woods and the ebbs and flows of the Menominee River. This 55-suite hotel got its start in the early 1900s with wealthy Chicagoans vacationing there — including Al Capone, as rumor has it.

Today, this full-service resort is the Northwoods’ elite lodging choice, with two restaurants, an ice cream parlor, spa, golf course and indoor pool. Relax in your own whirlpool or in front of your in-suite fireplace, play nine holes of golf on a private course or enjoy a game of tennis, kayak or canoe the river or rent a pontoon boat, unwind to live music in one of the two lounges and even take part in midnight ghost tours.
