JC Clementz has been hired as the new casting director of Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the company announced Wednesday.

Clementz worked at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre for five years as casting director and as the head of the emerging professional residency program. He also directed “The Devil’s Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith,” “The Doyle and Debbie Show,” and “Forever Plaid” with the Rep. He will direct Irving Berlin’s “I Love a Piano” in the fall.

Clementz, who replaces Erica Daniels (now President of Second City Theatricals), will start in his new role Monday.
