I said that if Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump gets in that he’s going to turn the White House into a multistory hotel. No, I take that back. He’s going to turn it into a casino, and guess whose money he’s going to use?

In rebuttal to the commenter who says it’s good that people that don’t have cable can watch basketball, baseball and football on regular television because most people can’t afford a game: If you can afford money to shoot off fireworks and loud noises practically all night long around Fourth of July and you can buy alcohol and take trips, you should be able to afford a game. Cut back on fireworks and other things. Also, if it’s a priority to go to sports games, leave us alone that don’t need to watch those games or don’t like sports. Baseball games aren’t a god. If they are to you, you’re going to the wrong thing. Go to God, not football games.

A commenter said we should leave Indiana if we hate the state and the Republican Party. It’s not Indiana that we hate. It’s what you Republicans have done to the state.

I’m constantly amazed with and appreciative of the people and places that columnist Jeff Manes writes about. He needs a full page. While I’m at it, Quickly deserves a full page too.

About how old is too old to be president: I don’t know anybody that would want a young person to be president in today’s world. The old people messed it up. The elderly have to fix it.

So another Lake County jury lets a killer go free. I wonder who he’ll kill next. It must be so frustrating for law enforcement.

Real Christians don’t sell their soul for money and power like Gov. Mike Pence, who will sell his soul for power. Mike, you’re not a real Christian. You’re a Republican first. You may be a conservative but you are no Christian. You’re a phony.

I recently read this by columnist Jackie Pilossoph and I think it’s true: “Hate is exhausting. Hate makes a person lose sight of life’s beauty and goodness. Hate destroys others. Hate destroys the hater. Love, on the other hand, rejuvenates. Loving and being loved makes a person want to help others, sustain compassion and make the world a better place. Love makes people grow and prosper.”

Do you think Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will have the guts to get next to Republican nominee Donald Trump for debates? I don’t think so.

After its abortion protest display on the Porter County courthouse square, would Scott Heldreth, pastor of the Heart for the Next Generation ministry, be willing to support all the children who are destined to be aborted? I think not.

Boy, former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson nailed it right on the head at the Republican National Convention when he referred to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her beliefs and everything as Lucifer. With her views on same-sex marriage and abortions, he got it right on the nose. This is just going to put another nail in her coffin.

I’m a former vendor for Majestic Star and Trump casinos. Majestic Star always paid their bills on time. Trump Casino was almost always delinquent. There’s two of my bills pending in court still. I don’t want to hear how Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump made a profit ganking his vendors. That’s not good business. That’s shysterism, like his Republican National Convention. One shyster after another lied to us about how much danger we’re in. America’s a greater country than it was eight, 10 or even 20 years ago. The melting pot scares people. That gives Republicans fuel for hatred and bigotry. Please turn away from the darkness and to the light. If you believe in God, believe in God’s word.

When a friend is nice enough to drive, the other friend should just be quiet and ride along. Don’t suggest going a certain way only because that’s the way you always go. The other person knows how to get there. That’s why they said they would drive, and their way is very good as well. Be polite. Don’t give directions unless it’s absolutely needed. Don’t expect them to do exactly what you would do, and just enjoy the ride and be sure to say, “Thank you.”

It was an interesting fear fest on television recently. No, it wasn’t a “Friday the 13th” movie marathon. It was the Republican National Convention.

I was recently at the farmers market in Valparaiso but it doesn’t matter if you’re in Crown Point, Chesterton or whatever. When you’re buying sweet corn, it’s $5 or $6 a dozen but if you’re only buying six ears, it’s $2.50 or $3.50 or now they’re marking it 50 cents an ear. Why is it always more expensive to buy less? There’s no packaging involved in the sweet corn. There’s no reason for it other than “We’re going to price gouge.” Would somebody please explain or give me a reasonable explanation as to why you pay more for less for something that is not packaged at all?

What’s this election coming down to anyway? One side has people in the White House that say they want to kill the cops, or there’s law and order. Chaos or decency — which one are you going to vote for?
