As a former educator, I’d like to see Indiana graded on its business climate. I don’t get control over the product sent to me yet I was graded on a product I turned out. If Indiana’s going to be this hotbed for business, grade Indiana. How many businesses are still afloat? How many businesses go under? We don’t want to do that because we don’t have any control of the people running the businesses, nor do we have any control over the overall product they’re selling. Let’s compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Do it not just in Indiana but all 50 states. If we’re going to be pro-business, go all the way. Help these businesses stay afloat.
About the former Trump Casino in Gary: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said back then that he would revitalize the city and bring it back again. What he did was take the money and run.
All you animal lovers out there and people who really love your pets and understand that God put them on this Earth for a purpose, there’s a book called “Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates” that you can go online and get. It’s by a gentleman named Gary Kurz. It’s a real tear-jerking book. You get it and you’ll see the emotions that will come up when you read it, and that’s a lot better than the funny places they call animal shelters. That’s no shelter. That’s not God’s way of taking care of things.
Regarding the comment in the newspaper concerning former Gov. Mitch Daniels and Gov. Mike Pence, that $2 billion surplus and that nothing is being fixed: No matter where you drive in Indiana — U.S. 30, U.S. 41, east and west on Interstate 94 or any road you go on — they’re repaving. What do these people want — everything done? Give them a break. There’s only so much money to go so far.
This is about Chicago and all those shootings over there. Until the people that live in the neighborhood start giving up the enemies among them, which are those gangbangers, it’s going to continue. Some of them know who the criminals are. A lot of people know who they are. Until we start giving up the enemies and gangbangers in our neighborhood, we’re going to continue to live in fear and get shot down like animals.
You couldn’t have asked for a better speaker than former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at the Republican National Convention. Strong and a go-getter, he held that city together during 9/11. He did the right things during the catastrophe. Thousands of people are concerned with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and will vote for other people. Giuliani would make a great U.S. Department of Homeland Security official.
Americans in this day and age and this election in November are faced with the two poorest candidates we’ve had run for office since I was able to vote early in my life. I’m 72 years old.
Regarding the commenter that keeps talking about the Chicago Cubs: I keep wondering if we’re watching the same team. Manager Joe Maddon’s the best coach the Cubs have ever had. The commenter doesn’t seem to realize they have so many starters and those starters are supposed to go the season. They’re supposed to be able to pitch seven innings. If they’re pitching good, Maddon doesn’t bring in a reliever. I don’t know what this commenter’s talking about. Maddon rests the players. First baseman Anthony Rizzo has been out several times. All of them have had days of rest in between.
