Hampshire Memorial Park will be renamed Henpeck Park.

Hampshire resident Kate Mucci was presented with a $50 gift card during the village board meeting recently for winning the contest to rename the 1.5-acre park at the southeast corner of Route 72 and Getzelman Road.

Village officials said there were 27 entries.

“I’m going to put the $50 into my son’s college fund,” Mucci said.

The park, formerly known as Hampshire Memorial Park, will be getting a new sign with the moniker of Henpeck Park. Mucci said she came up with the winning entry after talking with her father, Joe Marchewka. He told her that Henpeck was the former name of Hampshire.
