An 18-year-old man was fatally wounded Wednesday morning in a shooting in the city’s South Shore neighborhood.
The attack happened about 10:20 a.m. in the 2600 block of East 75th Street, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.
The man suffered wounds to the hand and abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Estrada said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Alexander Townsend of the 7600 block of South Cornell Avenue.
Earlier, the Tribune reported the victim was a 16-year-old boy, but that information was not correct.
Police were investigating.
