A South Side man has been charged with a Monday burglary that happened on the North Side in the city’s Lakeview neighborhood.
Kaabar Venson, 22, of the 4900 block of South Racine Avenue, was charged Wednesday with one felony count of residential burglary and one misdemeanor count of possession of 10 to 30 grams of cannabis, police said.
Venson was arrested after he was identified as the person who burglarized the residence of a 56-year-old woman who lived in the 1700 block of West Melrose Street, police said. The burglary occurred about 10:45 p.m. Monday, police said.
Venson was accused of entering the home, then fleeing with the victim’s personal belongings. He was caught a short time later, police said.
He was scheduled to appear Wednesday afternoon at a bail hearing.
