James Shields gave up five earned runs over seven innings in his last White Sox start of the season, and the Sox lost to the Twins 6-0 on Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Field.

Jorge Polanco and Byron Buxton each hit two-run homers off Shields, in the fourth and fifth innings, as the Twins pulled ahead 4-0.

Shields finished his season 6-19 with a 5.85 ERA, including 4-12 with a 6.77 ERA with the Sox.

At the plate

The Sox managed just four hits. Twins left-hander Hector Santiago, a former Sox pitcher, held the Sox scoreless over 6 1/3 innings, with three hits, three walks and six strikeouts.

On the mound

Juan Centeno added RBI doubles off Shields in the seventh and Sox reliever Michael Ynoa in the ninth for the final score.

Shields gave up four hits, walked three and struck out seven.
