Vicki Wolfinger lives in Skokie School District 73.5, where her children attend school. On Election Night, Wolfinger coordinated a block party of sorts by hiring a food truck in an effort to bring the community together. Wolfinger recently took some time out to answer a few questions for The Skokie Review.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: Moscow, Russia. That’s where I spent my childhood. I’ve lived in Skokie for the last 10 years.

Q: What do you do for a living?

A: I’m a physician’s assistant.

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I really didn’t know. My father always pushed me to enter medicine. The world is so big, it’s hard to choose. There are so many things to do.

Q: Do you have children?

A: My children are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Sophia is 11 and Jacob is 7.

Q: Pets?

A: We have a dog and a couple of fish. Our dog is Sally, a German shepherd.

Q: Can you name a movie you’d recommend?

A: My favorite movie is ‘Schindler’s List.’ That’s my everything movie. I’ve seen it five, six, seven times.

Q: Favorite charity?

A: A Better Life For Kids. One hundred percent of what they raise goes to the children in need in Ghana. A local teacher started A Better Life For Kids.

Q: Do you have any words of wisdom?

A: Love your neighbor.

Q: What song best sums up Skokie for you?

A: ‘Walk This Way,’ by Aerosmith.

Q: Favorite local restaurant?

A: Alexander’s. We go there for breakfast.

Q: What’s an interesting factoid about yourself?

A: I’m not so interesting but I truly try and do see good in people. That’s always been who I am. I love community and I love family. I’m a very simple person that way.
