
Vicki Wolfinger lives in Skokie School District 73.5, where her children attend school. On Election Night, Wolfinger coordinated a block party of sorts by hiring a food truck in an effort to bring the community together. Wolfinger recently took some time out to answer a few questions for The Skokie Review.
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: Moscow, Russia. That’s where I spent my childhood. I’ve lived in Skokie for the last 10 years.
Q: What do you do for a living?
A: I’m a physician’s assistant.
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I really didn’t know. My father always pushed me to enter medicine. The world is so big, it’s hard to choose. There are so many things to do.
Q: Do you have children?
A: My children are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Sophia is 11 and Jacob is 7.
Q: Pets?
A: We have a dog and a couple of fish. Our dog is Sally, a German shepherd.
Q: Can you name a movie you’d recommend?
A: My favorite movie is ‘Schindler’s List.’ That’s my everything movie. I’ve seen it five, six, seven times.
Q: Favorite charity?
A: A Better Life For Kids. One hundred percent of what they raise goes to the children in need in Ghana. A local teacher started A Better Life For Kids.
Q: Do you have any words of wisdom?
A: Love your neighbor.
Q: What song best sums up Skokie for you?
A: ‘Walk This Way,’ by Aerosmith.
Q: Favorite local restaurant?
A: Alexander’s. We go there for breakfast.
Q: What’s an interesting factoid about yourself?
A: I’m not so interesting but I truly try and do see good in people. That’s always been who I am. I love community and I love family. I’m a very simple person that way.
