Sundays scaries v. Chicago Cubs
What’s up: The Cubs have been scheduled for Sunday Night Baseball five times for the 2017 season.
Why you care: Nothing pairs better than the existential dread of an impending Monday quite like watching the Cubs demolish inferior MLB teams, right? And with the Bears leaving a bad taste in our mouths for sporting events on Sundays thus far, we need something to turn the rest of the day around.

Snapchat sells out
What’s up: Spectacles, the sunglasses with a built-in video camera created by the minds behind Snapchat, came to Illinois—for a split second before they sold out.
Why you care: The $129.99 glasses were available at Orland Park Dave & Buster’s today, causing the largest social media frenzy about anything in Orland Park probably ever. The glasses sold out in a little more than three hours (from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) with roughly 300 people nabbing a pair.
Soundbite: “It’s a little pricey, but I think it’s totally worth it,” said Ivan Delbosque of Oak Lawn (and probably anybody else who has ever contemplated buying Spectacles). Compared to the $225.98 price of Spectacles on Amazon, though, you really can’t complain, Ivan.

Not throwing away his shot
What’s up: “Hamilton” writer-composer, Pulitzer Prize winner and Tony Award recipient Lin-Manuel Miranda couldn’t close out 2016 without one more accomplishment. The Associated Press named Miranda the Entertainer of the Year—and, more importantly, of our hearts.
Why you care: Miranda has had a fire year, from all of those previously mentioned accolades, as well as a Golden Globe nomination and an Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama Inspired by American History (a mouthful, but an honor nonetheless). Not to mention a best-selling album, book and a PBS documentary, this was just the cherry on top of Miranda’s amazing year.
Soundbite: “I’ve been jumping from thing to thing and what’s been thrilling is to see the projects that happen very quickly kind of exploding side-by-side with the projects I’ve been working on for years,” Miranda said. Please don’t stop.

One word: “Yikes”
What’s up: Lena Dunham has issued an apology for saying that she “wish [she] had” an abortion. Good.
Why you care: After saying on her “Women of the Hour” podcast that, “I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had,” Dunham apparently thought better of her comment (duh) and posted an apology on Instagram.
Soundbite: In her social media apology, the “Girls” star wrote that she “would never, ever intentionally trivialize the emotional and physical challenges of terminating a pregnancy.” Glad we cleared that up.
