A driver died in a crash early Wednesday in Algonquin, according to Algonquin police.
About 1:40 a.m., police responded to a single vehicle crash on West Algonquin Road, just west of Berg Street, police said in a news release. A Dodge Charger had been traveling west when the vehicle went off the north side of the road and hit a utility pole, police said.
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, police said. The driver, the only person in the vehicle, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and/or fire, police said.
The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of the family, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation.
