After 15 years as Huntley’s director of finance and human resources, Jennifer Chernak has retired and was thanked by the Village Board.
Village President Charles Sass said that when Chernak was hired in 2001, it was as the village’s first finance director. He noted her contributions, highlighting construction of the municipal center, creation of the police pension fund and initiating the employee wellness program.
“She has been a true blessing for the village. We appreciate what she has done. She brought the village into the 19th century, the 20th century and 21st century in finance and technology,” Sass quipped.
Chernak thanked the board and her fellow employees and expressed appreciation for the mentors who have supported her.
“I would sincerely like to thank the board for the honor of serving as director of finance and human resources since 2001,” Chernak said.
She said she will miss the people she has worked with most of all.
“It has been a fantastic place to work,” she said.
Chernak said her retirement plans are to start fulfilling her bucket list.
