Blue Island

Grace United Methodist Church: 12739 Maple Ave. — The Annual Flower and Plant Sale will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 13. B’nai Yehuda Beth Sholom: 1424 W. 183rd St. — The Illiana Jewish Genealogical Society will meet at 2 p.m. June 4. Guest speaker Deby Eisenberg will review her second book “Protecting Paige.” Eisenberg is a former English teacher and journalist with a master’s degree from the University of Chicago. First Presbyterian Church of Homewood: 17929 Gottschalk Ave. — Free community dinners will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays. Activities with music will be available. A dinner and musical program will begin at 6:30 p.m. May 12 in Westminster Hall. The dinner will be a complete honey-orange roasted chicken dinner. The musical program “How Can I Keep From Singing,’ created by First Presbyterian Church Rev. Dr. Nancy Jo Dederer and Tinley Park Zion Church music director Chris Dederer, will be at 8 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A variety of music will be performed. Tickets are $6 for the musical program and $12 for dinner and the program. Tickets will be on sale after Sunday worship and at the church office. The Presbyterian Church in Orland Park: 13401 Wolf Road — An Evening of Opera, Musical Theater & Song will be at 7:30 p.m. June 2. The program will feature world-renowned baritone Jonathan Beyer, a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School. Amanda Crider will be guest soloist. St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church: 7399 W. 159th St. — The St. Peregrine Novena for cancer patients will be at 7 p.m. Mondays to June 26 in the Sacred Heart Chapel on the south side of the church. A beer pairing event will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 20 in the William J. Devine Center. A five-course German meal with associated craft beers will be served. Tickets are $45 per person. The monthly Bingo Craze will be May 21 in the William J. Devine Center. Doors open at 1 p.m. The early bird games begin at 1:30 p.m. Regular games begin at 2:30 p.m. Additional buy-in games, additional packets and bonus play will be available. “Lucky 13” game jackpot is currently $600.
