
Ellen Markus has been a Glencoe resident for six years. She and her husband, Joshua, have a daughter, Malia, 7. She enjoys going to the theater – including Glencoe’s Writers Theatre – and playing tennis.
Q: What do you enjoy the most about Writers Theatre?
A: I love the location, I love the venue. The two theaters are very intimate; the productions are well done and are very diverse.
Q: What is one play you would like to see but you haven’t?
A: “The Little Foxes.” It been nominated for Tony Awards and got some great reviews.
Q: Who is one of your favorite actresses and why?
A: Barbra Streisand. I love listening to her sing and I love everything she does.
Q: What do you like about tennis and how often do you play?
A: I play every week at (the Nielsen Tennis Center) in Winnetka. I love the workout it gives me and I love the people, as it is a social game.
Q: Is there a place where you would like to see tennis and why?
A: Wimbledon is on my bucket list. Growing up, it was always a big thing. I think there is something fascinating in that environment.
Q: Besides tennis, do you have another favorite hobby?
A: I used to sail a lot even though I have not done it lately. The peace of it. You are out in the middle of the water and it is very tranquil.
