“Open Bike Night”: The Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Junior Woman’s Club are hosting “Open Bike Night” from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Safety Town, 1320 Aurora Ave.
Children between the ages of 3 and 10 years old can practice riding on the streets of the miniature city and learn about bike safety. Future “Open Bike Nights” will be held July 19 and 26 and Aug. 2
The cost is $5 per child, and children may rent a small 4-wheeled bike for $3.
Kathy Reichs book signing: New York Times best-selling author Kathy Reichs will sign copies of her latest book, “Two Nights,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Koten Chapel at North Central College, 329 E. School St.

Shredding and Sharing event: State Rep. David S. Olsen (R-Downers Grove) is sponsoring a shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Sharing Connections, 5111 Chase Ave., Downers Grove.
Residents can bring up to two paper bags of documents to be shredded. Sharing Connections will also be accepting new cleaning and personal care supplies, new or gently used silverware, glassware, pots, pans, kitchen dishes and clothing.

Awesome Insects: Knoch Knolls Nature Center will present “Awesome Insects,” a chance for children ages 6 to 8 to learn about different types of insects and collect them around the nature center.

Naperville Ale Fest: More than 200 craft beers will be featured at the 5th annual Naperville Ale Fest-Summer Edition on Saturday at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St.
VIP admission begins at noon, followed by general admission starting at 1 p.m. The fest runs through 5 p.m.
Open only those 21 and older, the event will also feature live music and food from local restaurants and food trucks.
Tickets can be purchased in advanced online. VIP admission is $99 ($29 for designated drivers) and general admission is $49 ($15 for designated drivers).
Tickets can also be purchased at the gate. General admission at the gate is $60 ($20 for designated drivers).

Various transportation-themed activities, such as creating and testing parachutes and building a water-powered boat, will also be offered.

Evening on the Riverwalk: The Naperville Public Library along with the Naperville Park District presents its ongoing summertime children’s program, “Evening on the Riverwalk,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 at the Riverwalk Amphitheater on the corner of West Jackson Avenue and South Eagle Street.
The program will include stories, songs and a puppet show, and participants can bring a meal or snack. The event will run Tuesday evenings in the summer with a lunchtime presentation, “Picnic on the Riverwalk,” at 10:30 a.m. on summertime Wednesdays.
The evening program will run weekly through Tuesday, Aug. 1.
