For any of you that remember Todd Rokita having grown up and gone to Munster High School, he is now looking to put together a financial war chest to run for U. S. Senate from Indiana. Expect to see a lot of material from this former Indiana Secretary of State and his future opponents first in the primary and then, if he wins that, in the general election.
Former Mayor Jim Forsythe needs your help. About a month ago, he lost a binder containing music sheets. Most of you know that this WWII vet and former mayor also had a sideline gig. He had a band. The mayor is offering a $50 reward for its return. If you have this item please call the Star office at 219-663-4212 and ask for Joan or leave a message and give us your name and phone number. Then we will send your information to Mayor Forsythe and he will get in contact with you. He will set up a public place to meet you to retrieve his property and give you the reward.

The White House recently hosted a Made in America exhibit. Each state had a product. Wisconsin showed off two Big Pierce Fire Trucks; Tennessee, a number of Gibson guitars; New York State, a Steinway grand piano; Maine, a yacht by Hinckley Yachts; Illinois, farm equipment by Caterpillar.
Indiana manufacturing was represented by brooms from Broomcorn Johnnys. Yes, handmade old-fashioned brooms used to sweep your floor. Makes me proud! A big steel girder would have been nice or steel plate for our Naval fleet. I like big stuff at those kinds of shows. They may have brought a yacht, fire trucks and huge tractors but I don’t think they could have brought a submarine or ship to the White House. But a beam and photos of the ships would have been nice. The steel is made here in Northwest Indiana. Who knows, the steel in the fire trucks and farm equipment may have come from here, too.
Congratulations to Mitch Barloga, Crown Point for being named by Gov. Eric Holcomb to the brand new Bicycle Trails Task Force. Ride on Mitch, ride on.
