The Tribune’s crusade against red light cameras and the new Cook County sweetened beverage tax have one thing in common: Both of these activities, running red lights and drinking sugary beverages, are bad for you.

So, to clear up my confusion, are you saying we shouldn’t try to discourage either? Or do you have a better idea?

Personally, I can think of a lot worse ways to increase government revenue than discouraging red light running and consumption of highly sweetened, nutritionally vacuous, sugary beverages.
