Griffith’s Advanced Placement Curriculum and one of its AP math instructors walked away with two awards on Friday from Notre Dame’s Institute for Educational Initiatives.
The Institute named Griffith High School the AP TIP-IN School of the Year — one of four finalists for the award. Others in the running were Argos, Lebanon and Northwestern high schools.
Adding to the great news, AP Computer Science Instructor Marilyn Brunk was named AP Math Teacher of the Year.
“This is a tremendous honor for the entire school community, staff and students,” High School Principal Brian Orkis said. “It is reflective of the expectations that we have set forth for our staff and students. They have embraced the AP culture and the challenges that come with it, all the while demonstrating sustained excellence.”
Griffith was praised for increasing participation in its AP program and creating opportunities for career readiness.
