The Northbrook Park District launched a new online registration system on Oct. 23.
The district will now be using Active Net as its registration system “to provide an enhanced and familiar user experience while also improving internal processes,” said Ann Ziolkowski, the park district’s spokeswoman.
The system allows members to search for activities by keyword, age, day, time or location, according to the park district website. There will also be security enhancements, like protection from credit card fraud, Ziolkowski said.
“The system now is similar to … other online registration programs,” Ziolkowski said. “This is the next step in our process of improving customer service.”
The park district had to look for a new registration system because Active Network, the parent company of the district’s previous registration system, announced in early 2014 that it would no longer sell or support the product effective December 2017, she said.
The Northbrook Park District Board of Commissioners approved Active Net as the new registration system in December 2016, Ziolkowski said.
The implementation, data conversion and training for Active Net cost the district approximately $54,700 with an additional cost of approximately $5,300 in equipment replacement, Ziolkowski said. But district officials anticipate saving $34,000 annually in the switch, she said.
Members that had an online account under the previous system can use the email address associated with the old account as a login for the new system, according to the park district website.
Winter registration begins Nov. 20 for Northbrook residents.
